How Currency and Credits Work on RemoteGenies
The short version
All transactions on RemoteGenies are processed in USD. The platform uses credits (denominated in USD) as its internal unit for paying Genies. There are no separate "coins" with an arbitrary conversion rate — the credit system operates in real dollar values.
For clients
How credits are valued
When you purchase a plan, you receive credits whose value is tied directly to USD. The value per credit varies by:
- Your selected plan (Pay As You Go, Advanced, or Top Tier)
- The Genie's years of work experience
The calculator in the platform (accessible from the client navigation bar) shows you the exact cost in USD before you commit. Change the experience slider or the credit amount and the total updates in real time.
What the calculator tells you
For each plan, the calculator displays:

Advanced plan — Genie rates by experience
The USD rate deducted per hour depends on the Genie's experience band, not your total spend. Below are the entry-level deduction rates for the Advanced plan as a reference:

Your local currency
RemoteGenies does not process payments in any currency other than USD. Fluctuations in your local currency's exchange rate do not affect your credit balance once a purchase is complete.
For Genies
How your earnings are denominated
Your profile displays your hourly rate in USD. The rate is set during pre-vetting and is based on your experience level and skill category.
Payout conversion
When you request a payout via the platform's Wise integration, the process works as follows:
- Enter the USD amount you want to withdraw (minimum: $10.00).
- The platform shows you the converted amount in PHP at the current exchange rate.
- Before you confirm, you'll see a full breakdown:
- Fixed deduction fee (e.g., $7.44 USD)
- Variable deduction fee (a percentage of the amount entered, e.g., $0.25 USD)
- VAT on fees (e.g., $13.00 USD)
- Total payout in PHP after all deductions
The PHP conversion uses the live exchange rate at the time of the payout request. The fee examples above are illustrative — the exact figures are shown on-screen before you confirm.
The USD amounts shown in the deduction breakdown are examples from the system. Confirm the current figures in your payout screen before submitting.
Genie profile rate display
Your profile shows your hourly rate in USD. This is the rate used when clients review your bid and when credits are calculated for a task.
Frequently asked questions
Does RemoteGenies use a coin or token system? The platform previously used a virtual coin system. That has been converted to real USD-denominated credits. Everything you see in your account now reflects actual dollar values.
Can I see the cost before committing to a task or plan? Yes. The credits calculator (available in the client navigation) shows USD cost dynamically based on your plan, credit amount, and the Genie's experience level.
As a Genie, when does my payout exchange rate get locked in? The exchange rate is applied at the time you submit the payout request. The converted PHP amount is shown to you before you confirm — what you see is what gets processed.
