Dispute Handling Policy: What Clients and Genies Need to Know

How Disputes Work on RemoteGenies

Once a task is marked as Completed, a 7-day holding period begins. During this window, the client can review the final output and, if there are issues, change the task status to Dispute.

The 7-Day Holding Period

  • After a task is marked Completed, the client has 7 calendar days to raise a dispute or request revisions.
  • You can track the holding period via the Task Holding Period card on the right-hand side of the task page.
  • If no dispute is raised within 7 days, the task is automatically locked as Completed — no further status changes or requirement updates can be made.
  • Once locked, disputes cannot be initiated retroactively.

For Clients: How to Raise a Dispute

  1. Go to the task in your dashboard.
  2. Confirm the task is still within the 7-day holding window (check the Task Holding Period card).
  3. Change the task status to Dispute.
  4. Provide details on what was not delivered or what needs to be corrected.
  5. Your Project Coordinator will review the dispute and coordinate next steps.

Act promptly. Once the 7-day window closes, the task locks and payment is released to the Genie. You will not be able to raise a dispute after that point.

For Genies: What Happens During a Dispute

  • Your payment is held until the dispute is resolved — funds will not be released to your wallet while a dispute is active.
  • Notify your Project Coordinator immediately through GenieChat.
  • Provide all relevant files, time logs, and communication records to support your case.
  • The Coordinator will mediate between you and the client and determine next steps.

What Happens After the 7 Days

ScenarioOutcome
Client raises a dispute within 7 daysTask enters Dispute status; Coordinator reviews and mediates
No dispute raised within 7 daysTask auto-locks as Completed; payment released to Genie
Dispute raised after 7 daysNot possible — task is locked and cannot be reopened

Role of the Project Coordinator

Your Project Coordinator is the mediator in any dispute. They will:

  • Review the task requirements and submitted output
  • Gather information from both the client and the Genie
  • Recommend a resolution

All dispute communication should go through the platform. Do not attempt to resolve disputes through off-platform contact.

Important Reminders

  • Clients: Review all deliverables as soon as the task moves to Completed. Seven days goes quickly.
  • Genies: Keep your time logs and deliverable records accurate and accessible throughout the task.
  • Both parties: Once the task locks after 7 days, the decision is final. There is no retroactive dispute process.
