How to Invite Genies to Bid for Your Task
After creating your task, you must invite at least one Genie before the task can move to Open for Bid status. Here's how the process works.
Step 1: Fill in Your Task Details, Then Click "Invite Genies"
Once all required fields in your task form are complete, click the Invite Genies button. If any required fields are still blank, the system will flag them — complete those first before proceeding.
Step 2: Browse and Select Genies
The Invite Genies screen opens with a list of Genies matched to your task. The list is displayed in a table format showing:

| Rating | Star rating based on their current average score |

Top Match section appears at the top of the list. This displays up to 5 Genies that best match your task based on skillset, experience, and rating. Top Match Genies are visually highlighted to distinguish them from the rest of the list.
You can select up to 10 Genies to invite. If you try to select more than 10, you'll see the error: "You reached the maximum number of selected Genies."
Selected Genies are highlighted in purple.
Step 3: Use Filters to Narrow Your Search
If you want to find specific Genies, use any of the available filters:
- Search by Name — type a Genie's name to filter results
- Favorites — shows only Genies you've marked as favorites
- Ratings — filter by rating level
- Expertise — select one or multiple expertise areas
- Skillsets — select one or multiple skillsets
- Experience — filter by experience level
You can also sort the list by Applicant Name, Skillset, Experience, or Rating (ascending or descending). Sorting by Rating defaults to highest-rated first; sorting by Experience defaults to most experienced first.
Step 4: Review a Genie's Profile Before Inviting
Each Genie row has three action buttons:
- Chat — opens a direct chat thread with that Genie
- View Profile — opens the Genie's full profile in a new tab without resetting your current selections
- Invite — sends the bid invitation; the button changes to "Invited" once sent and cannot be clicked again
Step 5: Invite All Top-Match Genies at Once (Optional)
If you want to move quickly, use the Invite All Top Match option at the top of the Top Match section. Click the checkbox or button to select all top-match Genies at once.
- A success message confirms: "All top-match Genies have been invited successfully."
- If something goes wrong, an error message will appear: "Unable to send invites. Please try again later."
Step 6: Click "Open for Bid"
Once you've selected at least one Genie, click the Open for Bid button.
- If no Genie is selected, the system will show: "Should invite at least 1 genie" — you cannot proceed without selecting at least one.
- Once confirmed, the task status updates to Open for Bid and the pop-up closes. Your invited Genies will receive a notification and can begin submitting their bids.
After the Invites Are Sent
From your task page, you can:
- Resend an invitation to bid to a Genie who hasn't responded yet
- Invite a Genie for an interview directly from the matched and invited Genies sidebar
Invited Genies will see the task in their Invited to Bid section on their dashboard, where they can submit a bid or be shown as already having bid.
